You're Invited: No Fine Print
1. What’s the most disappointing ‘fine print’ experience you’ve ever had? ( a warranty that didn’t cover what broke, a “free trial” that wasn’t free, etc)
2. When have you been hesitant to trust something that sounded “too good to be true”?
How does that hesitation sometimes affect the way we respond to Jesus’ invitation to follow him?
3. Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Mark 8:34,
What do you think it really means to “deny yourself” today? What might that look like in your own life?
4. Garry said, “God’s love and forgiveness are free—it costs you nothing—but following Jesus will cost you something.” What are your thoughts about that?
5. Read Luke 9:57-62 Jesus challenges people who want to follow him but add conditions like “first let me…” What are some of the “first let me…” excuses we can make today that keep us from following Jesus fully?
Jesus’ story of the pearl of great price reminds us that what we gain in following him is worth more than anything we give up. This week take some time to identify one area where fear, comfort, or control is keeping you from fully following Jesus - and take one small, intentional step of obedience in that area this week.
