You're Invited: Family Matters
1. Describe a time when you took a leap of faith - big or small - that scared you at first but ended up being one of the best things you ever did. (moved to a new city, took a new job, went skydiving, etc.)
2. Why do you think following Jesus was never meant to be done alone? How have you experienced the difference between trying to live out faith solo versus in community?
3. Read John 13:34-35. Jesus said the world would know we’re His followers by our love for one another. What does that kind of love look like in real, everyday terms? How is it different from the kind of love we often see modeled in the world?
4. Read Colossians 3:12, As Jesus followers we are to “clothe ourselves” with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Which of those qualities do you find comes most naturally to you? Which one do you struggle with the most, and why?
5. Saying yes to Jesus’ invitation to follow him also means you’re invited into his family. We heard how being part of God’s family means being real - not perfect. What would you say to someone who says they don’t need to be connected to a church family?
This week, look for ways to be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle and patient.
