Road Trip: The Scenic Route

Jul 26, 2026    Garry Firth

1. Garry suggested there are two kinds of travelers: "quick route" people and "scenic route" people. Which one are you?

2. The two disciples believed Jesus was absent when, in reality, he was walking beside them the whole time. Share a season or time where you later realized God had been with you even though you couldn't see him at the time?

3. Which statement from the message resonated with you the most?

"We had hoped..."

"The problem isn't His absence. It's our awareness."

"Jesus simply walked beside them."

"Before the crown, there had to be a cross."

Why did that statement connect with you?

4. In Luke 24:21 we read: "We had hoped..." What are some disappointments or unmet expectations that can make it difficult to trust God? How does Jesus' response challenge the way we interpret our circumstances?

5. Looking back over the Road Trip series ("Are We There Yet?", "Roadblocks & Detours," and "Scenic Route"), which week's message spoke most directly to your current season of life, and what is one step you feel God is asking you to take because of it?
