Different: Identity

1. What’s something you’ve based your identity on before—career, family, sports, friends, personality—and how did it shape the way you lived?

2. When did you first become aware that “identity” was a thing, and what part of your life are you most tempted to let define your identity today? (achievement, appearance, approval, relationships, performance, etc.)

3. Read Genesis 1:26–27. After listening to this message, what do you think it looks like to live out an identity as God’s image?

4. How does believing “identity is received, not achieved” change the way you think about your future, decisions, or pressures?

5. What part of Jesus’ identity for you—loved, forgiven, chosen, secure, called—is hardest for you to believe? Why? (See Ephesians 2:8-10)

6. How would your life actually look different this week if you lived from Jesus’ identity instead of other identities?
