1. Can you think of a metaphor that has helped you understand something important in your life or faith journey more clearly? What was it?
2. Read Mark 4:1-8. What are your initial reactions to this story? Why do you think Jesus spoke in parables?
3. Jesus said the farmer sows the Word meaning God is planting truth into our lives. In what ways have you sensed God trying to plant truth into your life recently?
4. Is there an area of your life that you’ve poured concrete over? Why? How would your life look differently if you allowed God’s truth to take root in one specific area you’ve been resisting?
5. We were left with two questions to ask ourselves - 1. Are you open to God speaking or sowing truth into your life? And 2, if your answer to question one is yes, are you open to the idea that what God might want to say about your life may be different than what you thought it would be or hoped it would be?
6. Read Mark 4:8. Jesus said that the good soil produced a harvest far beyond what was planted. Where do you want to see that kind of harvest in your life? What would it take for that to happen?
