Next Step: What's Yours?
1. What’s a step you've taken that ended up changing your life? (new job, going back to school, trying a new sport or hobby, etc.)
2. Garry compared faith to a journey that begins with one step. Looking back on your life, what has been one significant step in your faith journey? (reading the Bibleregularly, being baptised, going on a mission trip, joining a connection group, etc.)
3. The new TMP mission statement is "To help people take their next step toward Jesus." What do you think your current "next step" might be? What makes that step seem exciting or intimidating to you?
4. One of the key ideas from the message was that baptism doesn't make someone a Christian; it's an outward expression of an inward commitment. How does understanding baptism this way change or reinforce your perspective? If you've been baptized, what did it mean to you? If not, what questions do you still have?
5. Read Romans 2:4. Garry talked about how repentance simply means "to turn around" and that God's kindness (not guilt or shame) is what leads us toward Him. Why do you think many people associate repentance with condemnation instead of grace? How has God's kindness helped change your life?
6. Peter and Emily's story reminded us that following Jesus often means taking new steps, even when they're difficult or uncertain. What is an area of your life where you sense God inviting you to trust Him with your next step?
