Putting the X Back In Christmas: Xtravagant Loving
1. Share a time when you were unexpectedly surprised on Christmas Day. (You received an unexpected gift, someone unexpected dropped by, etc.)
2. God chose to enter the world in a messy, smelly stable instead of a palace.
What does that say to you about how God views our mess? Do you tend to feel like things in your life are too messy for God? Why/why not?
3. The message emphasized that God didn’t wait for us to clean ourselves up—He went first. Why is it so hard for us to go first in love, forgiveness, or kindness? What usually holds us back?
4. Immanuel means God with us, not above us or far away. How does knowing that Jesus experienced weakness, pain, and frustration too change how you approach God?
5. The message challenged us to put Xtravagant love into action. Of the questions asked at the end, who in your life needs a phone call? forgiveness? patience? encouragement? Which one stands out to you most right now? What’s one specific step you could take this week?
