Famous Last Words: "It is finished."

1. Share a time when you reached the end of something and said, “It is finished!” (school, degree, an art project, laundry, etc.)

2. What was your experience with religion growing up? Was it positive, confusing, freeing, restricting… or something else? How did your experience with ‘religion’ influence your view or picture of what God is like? (strict, mean, uncaring, etc.)

3. Read Luke 15:11-32. What stood out to you in this story? Which son do you most identify with and why?

4. When Jesus died, the temple curtain was torn in two. This curtain was roughly 3 ½ inches thick, so it didn’t accidentally tear. The barrier between people and God is gone. Have you ever felt like there were walls between you and God? What were they? What are some walls religion tends to put up that Jesus never did?

5. We heard how ‘It’s not what we do for God that makes us right with him, it's what Jesus did for us.’ How does it change things to realize Jesus has already done everything needed to bring us back to God?

6. What would it look like for you to grow in relationship with Jesus this week — not by doing more, but by simply being with Him?
