REALationships: Cut Them Some Slack And Tell Them You Love Them

1. The idea of submitting to someone else is a big part of this REALationships series. What do you think about that?

2. You can revisit the verses from Ephesians that are talked about in this message:

Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. Ephesians 6:1-4 (NLT)

3. If you have children (kids or adult-children), what’s going well with them right now? What are some of your struggles with them lately?

4. If you have parents, what are things like with them now? What are some of the struggles you have with them?

5. How can you “honor your father and mother” in your life right now?

6. What did you learn about Jesus from your parents? And if your parents didn’t teach you about faith in God, then where have you learned that from?

7. Some people find it hard to say “I love you” to their parents, or kids, or people in their lives. What’s it like for you?

8. The challenge from this message is to “Cut them some slack, and tell them you love them”. How will you take up that challenge?
