TMP is an outreach focused church and we are able to operate because of the commitment of a huge number of incredible volunteer teams who serve Jesus and each other by using their time, energy, and skills to make a difference.
Even if you have only a little bit of time - you can make a BIG difference and have fun serving with a team. (Side benefit: TMP will feel more like home and you'll get to know a lot more people!) Most areas schedule on an easy once-per-month rotation so you can fit service into your schedule, from just minutes to hours/month.
- If you have less than 1/2 hour a month try: set up / take down before or after service / care team / cleaning toys
- If you have 1 hour a month try: guest services like greeting / parking / coffee / usher / set-up / make snacks for kids / administration / play with kids (age 0-10)
- If you have 1 Sunday a month try: production / guest services / play with kids (age 0-10)
YOU have a place waiting for you here!
All our teams provide hands-on training, so if you're not sure you're ready we'll help you get up to speed in no time. You can try out an area to see if it is a good fit, and our team environments make it easy to trade to cover your shift when the unexpected happens. It's that easy!
Take a look at some of the serving teams below, and complete the applications for any that interest you. Each team schedules on a rotation (no one is scheduled every Sunday unless they insist upon it).
If you want to connect with one of our staff to help you get started, we would love to connect with you. Please click the button below to set up a time to chat with us.
TMP volunteer Teams
Parking, Greeting, Mingling, Coffee/Tea, Info Table, Ushering - 90 minutes (for most areas)
Our guest services team members are the first to create an irresistible environment for those coming to TMP on a Sunday morning. If you’re a people person, this is a great way to make a difference. Provide parking directions, welcome people at the entrances, help them find their way, mingle and chat, replenish and greet at the coffee/tea table, in-service usher support and more. Sounds fun, right?
Site Management (Setup / Take Down)
Ballroom Setup / Take Down - 20-30 minutes
These teams move out the storage carts to the various stations - sound, stage, lights, video. This team also sets up the (heavy) screen and main PA speakers. (Wiring it all up is done by the Production Team.)
Facility-wide Setup / Take Down - 15-25 minutes
These teams are responsible for rolling carts full of supplies to the various rooms throughout the facility (Kids/Tots/Info Table) as well as placing signs in the parkade, outside entrances and in the lobby area. This is one of the favourite areas to explore if you love physical tasks. All training is provided.
Production (Road crew)
Production Setup - 30 minutes
Production setup volunteers work behind the scenes early in the morning to unload and set up all service related audio, lighting, and video equipment so our band can start doing sound checks and practicing by 7:30am. This includes wiring everything in conjunction with sound & media teams. No prior experience necessary, but if you're a morning person and love a workout, this is for you.
Worship Arts (Audio, Media & Lighting Teams)
Audio - Sunday mornings
Do you enjoy listening to the details of music - which instruments and vocals are more featured than others? Would you like to learn how to run and mix music to create an irresistible environment for people to engage with God through music? Then our Audio Team may be for you!
Media - Sunday mornings
If you’re a tech-savvy kind of person and interested in audio mixing, camera operating, live video editing, , this is the ministry to join. No extensive experience necessary, just a willing heart.
Lighting - Sunday mornings
A key part of our Sunday morning experience, creating our onstage ambience, highlighting our music and speaking teams, and creating a welcoming environment in the ballroom. Learn how to work with cutting edge DMX and LED technology, and contribute your ideas as we continue to build excellence in this area.
Music (Vocalists / Instrumentalists)
Music - Sunday mornings plus a mid-week group practice
If you're a Christian musician with a desire to have your music make a real eternal difference, this may be the place for you! We're looking for positive and enthusiastic team players to join our team. If you've got a heart for spiritual seekers and love to play contemporary, popular and upbeat music, this is the team for you.
Youth & Young Adults
Youth & Young Adults - 1 evening per week
The City Youth and Young Adult volunteer leaders help young adults, teens and pre-teens take their next best step to following Jesus through meaningful connections. If you love spending time with middle and high school youth, or young adults, then you’ll love serving in this ministry.
Totz, Kidz & KidCheck Teams - 75-90 minutes
Our Kidz Community team members provide ways for kids to experience God's love through fun, age appropriate games, stories and activities. Kidz Place is an essential part of the life of TMP because so many families have made this community their home. If you have a gift for connecting with children, love to play, and want to share your love for Jesus, you can make a huge difference in our Totz or Kidz K - Grade 5 classes! And even if you don’t consider yourself “a kid person”, there are lots of areas that you can serve, such as greeting families, assisting with checking in, setting up rooms, cleaning toys, and more.
Hosts & Leaders - various time commitments
Community Group leaders and hosts are people who want to build relationships and experience God’s love in a close group. They’re passionate about encouraging, equipping, and empowering others to connect and grow in their faith by opening their home as a host or leading discussions about the topic the group is exploring. If you're a people person who loves to lead or host tight knit and gospel focused groups of people doing life together, you'll love serving in this capacity.
Various times as needed
Our Care Team helps in simple ways when the unexpected happens. From making a meal, mowing a lawn, household repair jobs, providing interim child care and more. If you love to make a difference in practical ways when you can, this team could be a fun way to do that.
