Welcome to The Meeting Place. Today we’re wrapping up a series called TMP @ The Movies where we explore questions about life, faith, and God through the artistic medium of film.
Today’s movie is titled Freedom Writers.
This inspiring and thought-provoking movie is based on the true story of an idealistic teacher named Erin Gruwell who took a job teaching English to a classroom made up of kids from different racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Not only does this story pay tribute to a teacher who makes an enormous contribution to the lives of her students, it also celebrates the unity that can arise out of diversity when we are willing to break down the walls that can so easily separate us from others.
That’s what we’re going to look at today and as we explore this film, our hope is that you’ll see God’s love for you and be encouraged that regardless of whatever is happening in your life today this is a place where you can belong.
